Frank Ocean’s jewelry brand Homer quietly unveils online store and second collection

When it comes to stealthily bending norms into stunning pieces of art, Frank Ocean definitely understands the assignment. He’s embedded that formula in much of his work, so it’s no surprise that his recent non-musical endeavor channels that same creativity. Enter Homer, a luxury brand that caters to all our silky, diamond encrusted needs.

Earlier this week, the high fashion line—which specializes in creating accent scarves, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings—dropped details about their second collection titled When a Dog Comes to Stay. This cheeky ode to the symbol of a dog is vivid on numerous items, such as their various lineup of pendants, 18-karat gold, diamonds, and bracelets and rings awash in a sterling silver finish. According to Ocean, this glimmering collection “explores the dog as a symbol of one that walks lighter. A sheepdog, an Akita and a bull terrier are rendered in pixels as if to simplify the qualities that make them our family. To the dog, it seems, loyalty is without thinking.”

The Grammy-winning artist launched Homer back in August, unveiling its first collection of silk scarves and glossy jewelry pieces ranging from $395 to $1.9 million. Designed in New York and handmade in Italy, this riveting label has zipped through the ranks at light-speed since their debut, scoring a collaboration with Prada to reimagine several of their staple pieces and building quite a buzz on social media. In a heart-felt Instagram story debuting the line, Ocean expressed that building Homer took ‘three years’ and he countlessly thanked his team for uprooting his vision.

“Hand on my heart, this project has kept my mind moving and my imagination turning throughout it all,” Ocean says. “My hope is to make things that last, that are hard to destroy, set in stone.”

Adopting the brand name from Greek mythology, their press release notes that the designs are inspired by “childhood obsessions” and “heritage as a fantasy.” Such expression can be seen in the first launch, which offers a lush combination of 18-karat gold, refined bands, and vibrant specs to give off a child-like feel. The scarves also play upon the cherubic theme in color, blending contrasting hues such as lobster blue, acid yellow, and cadmium red against eye-popping graphic stitching.

Homer has been only operating out of their New York store, but fashion enthusiasts worldwide can now snag some of these contemporary pieces, including the second collection when it launches. Stay tuned for release details of When a Dog Comes to Stay on Homer’s website and Instagram.
